Weekend News

We had a great weekend! Josh was actually HOME both days and it was really nice. Saturday the weather was questionable so instead of going to the lake, we decided we'd just go to the Yellow River Game Ranch. We always have a great time feeding the animals. The kids love running around and it wears them out!

They have squirrels that run around all over the place and I don't know why but Conner is determined that he will one day catch a squirrel. It's hilarious! Here's him trying really hard.

On the way out of the ranch, there are some ride on horses. You know the kind, you put a quarter in and they go. Most of them are REALLY slow but there's one there....it does THIS...

I have a photo almost identical of Josh and Conner; Conner was a little younger than Parker though.

On Sunday, we took the boat out on the lake. It was just our family, which was really nice and relaxing. We always wind up anchoring and swimming for a while. We did that, then we cruised around, stopped at the marina. The kids had some popscicles. We beached the boat so Conner could play; he enjoyed the muddy sand :) Parker loves to nap on the boat.

Puff Paint

I decided that I need to do more craft activities w/the kids and I've pinned a bunch of things on pinterest so I was not lacking in ideas. I don't have tons of craft supplies on hand so I decided to look and see what I had before deciding on an activity. I grabbed elmer's glue, shaving cream, food coloring and egg crates.

I wanted them to try to make ice cream tops on the triangles...FAIL. They had fun though. and they didn't fight for about 10 min! score.

The Farm

Conner has decided that he wants his birthday party at a farm this year. OK. well. Ok. There are a few local farms that have animals that are friendly enough for the kids to pet. I decided that I needed to do my research and see 1. the FEE. and that's really IT. I thought I'd pick the cheapest farm and we'd go from there. They all want the same amount...and it's not a small amount. Ok, I digress. In order to make a decision about which farm we'd choose, I thought we should start to visit them first. We headed out to Tanglewood Farms yesterday, but not before I hit the gym for some daily stress release. The kids had a great time. LOVED it. Me, eh, not so much. It wasn't that small, that wasn't the problem. The problem is that it was somewhat vacant. A lot of the animals were inaccessible. The admission fee was nothing to sneeze at either, $10/per person, even the kids...well adults. There was a very small 'play area' but I'd barely call it a play area. It was basically some picnic tables one for that you could climb up but my boys were too small to climb up it, a big chair (that had a missing piece of plywood, leaving a HOLE in it), and a make shift bull. The bull was fun. Parker liked it. My review; cute but not worth the admission fee. If they took some time to spruce it up a little bit, it would be MUCH better.

So What Wednesday

I haven't linked up to a SWW in so long that I may have forgotten how to do it.

This week I'm saying so what to...
so what if

I let Parker fall asleep on the couch for naps. otherwise he won't take one. whatever. just go to sleep

I can't WAIT for school to start next week. 3 morning a week without conner and 2 w/NO kids. what ever will I do with myself?
I let my kids decide what they want to eat (for the most part). whatever, at least they are eating.

I'm boring and can't think of anything else. see, I told you I forgot how to do this.

Park Fun

Yesterday, we met some friends at a local park to let the boys burn off some energy and for me to get my baby fix by seeing precious little E! I love that baby. omg. The boys were having a great time and ran for almost 2 hours. Sweet success. Parker even took a 2.5 hour nap. YES! Score one for mama! We had a few mishaps with sand and had some tears but it was cured w/some apple juice and fruit snacks. All was well again and they were off to play (after some time out, a few 'I'm sorry' and some tears). It was a great time. We need to do that more often!

Accountability

Unless you know me IRL, you don't know about the lifestyle change that I made in Jan nor do you know that I lost 15lbs and became a healthier version of myself. Fast forward to people noticing...yea. someone got lazy. yea. me. Tomorrow (I really mean tomorrow, not thurs or fr but TOMORROW) I am back to clean eating. If you don't know what clean eating is, look it up! It will change your life. I can honestly say that I really love clean eating. I do. I am also human and I fail. I do. But tomorrow, I'm back on track. Why? Honestly because I feel like crap. I am bloated and sluggish. I have eaten crappy for 3 full days and I can tell. Even with exercise I can tell. My body needs good food, not the processed crap I've been feeding myself for the past 3 days. My kids need to see me eating good food. My sanity needs me eating good food.  I'm posting here to keep me accountable. I'll update tomorrow night and post my meals (maybe not photos but what I ate).

just wondering...

As I have started blogging again, I've been wondering if I'm really talking to no one in cyberspace of if I have any readers left? if you read, will you comment to let me know? TIA.

I'll post our park adventure from today in the morning.

Weekend news

This past weekend was pretty uneventful. Josh worked on Sat. The kids and I hung out at home and played, well, I cleaned. It rained most of the day so I rescheduled my family session. They didn't mind. Josh got home somewhat early but nothing life changing or anything like that. Yesterday, I went to my shoot and when I got home we decided we'd go out on the lake. I left my camera home. oh well. The ILs came with us as well as another family that has 2 kids. Their kids are a little older than mine but they all play well. Parker takes the BEST naps on the boat. We spent the day swimming, the kids went tubing (not P), we beached the boat and had a picnic. It was a good day. but today...well, today is MONDAY. ick. we went to the gym and grocery store this morning.

The only real thing that I'm having a problem with is Conner and how mean he has gotten toward Parker. When I say I've tried everything, I mean everything, to get him to play nicely with his brother. I really dont know what to do. All I know is that next week on Wed, both kids go to school. I will have two glorious mornings with no kids in my face. I will have three mornings with no fighting. To say I am excited and can't wait would be an understatement. I'm also hoping that this new adventure will wear Parker out and he will stop fighting me on naps. He currently will not go down for a nap but will snuggle up on the couch between 4-4:30 every day and close his pretty little eyes. If only Conner would do that too...

Maybe we will do something fun this week and I'll have something to blog about. Now I remember why I haven't blogged. staying home=boring and nothing to blog about. or maybe it's just me...maybe I'm just boring. Either way...

Friday Five

I don't have anything to blog about but in the hopes that people will start reading again, I'm doing Friday Five.
Five things my kids do that make me laugh:

  •  Parker screams (in a monster voice) SOCCER MONSTER and kicks a soccer ball.

  • Conner break dances; he's actually good at it. It's hilarious.

  • Conner will 'ride' Parker on his back. They squeal!

  • Conner thinks everything is a race and if he wins, he says, "Smoked you"

  • Parker will wear nothing except a hat and Josh's socks. little naked bootie with a backwards hat and way too big socks...hilarious.

Those are my five.
Happy Friday!!

Rainy Mornings

Yesterday it was a rainy morning and the kids were super energetic, as usual. I put on my thinking cap and decided I'd do something different/fun. I pulled out the painters tape, you know the blue one, and made simple shapes on the hardwood floors. They were screaming the shapes as they jumped from one to another. They even played for more than 10 min without fighting. Score one for mama!
