Weekend Fun

This weekend was different from most. Sure, I had photoshoots and that's normal but Josh was home both days. Both.days. It rarely happens. The kids were happy and we stayed fairly busy. Saturday, I just told the boys to go outside w/their dad. I went for a run w/Tyler and Conner tagged along on his bike (so fun!). He got tired (or bored) before I did so I dropped him off at home and kept going. Tyler loved it though and I'm so happy about that.

Sunday after my shoot, we decided we'd go to the Yellow River Game Ranch. On the way there, Tyler decided he was done w/the car seat so we detoured and went to Stone Mountain. It's such a fun place and lots of things around the park are free (unless you want to ride the train, go up the tram, do the 'adventure' thing or go on the duck boats) so we decided we'd climb the mountain.
It's 1.1 miles straight up. Parker rode on my back for almost half of the way up. Best.bootie.workout.ever. It was fun and the view from the top make it worth it. Parker was not happy that I put him down and I loathe this photo of me but I think it's the only one w/all 5 of us in it!

After we (thought) we wore the kids out, we took them to the actual park and (thanks to daddy) hit up the candy store. They got popcorn and candy. Spoiled much?! not my kids ;) We then gave them the option of train ride or play in the creek. They chose the creek. They LOVED it. SO fun.

No one wanted to take a photo on these awesome stairs. Too bad. they win. photo sucks. haha

Mini-Vacation

A few weeks ago, my in-laws decided to take a very last minute trip to Panama City. They wanted to bring the boat and go snorkeling bay side on Shell Island. They invited us and we said YES. I always, always, always have (in my head) the idea that vacation will be SO fun and no work. It's always the opposite of that but at the end of the day we get some together time and the kids enjoy themselves.

Each day, we'd head out of the bay toward Shell Island, find a 'good spot' and beach that boat. Conner learned to snorkel and we found lots of hermit crabs. Tyler LOVES the water. I just wish we would have had one full beach day, instead of bay days but it was still a get away and for that I'm thankful.

We even found some time one night for an amusement park! We got rained on but that's just part of the fun! I have NO idea why Parker was frowning, he was in LOVE with the rides.

Life with three...

So, our new baby is here. He's almost three weeks old and I can not believe that he's that 'old' already. It feels like we just got him and that we've had him forever. He's such a sweet baby. His brothers adore him...we all do. He's a perfect little peanut and we could not be more thankful to have him in our family.

I did have a c-section and the surgery itself wasn't bad; in fact, it was easy. The recovery, however, sucked. Keep in mind that I had 2 vaginal deliveries prior to this and that is all I knew. I was up and moving normally by the time we got home with both Conner and Parker. This time, I was 10 days post surgery before I felt normal again. Sucked....understatement of the year. I think it would have been much easier if it was just one baby instead of 3. Let's face it, even with Daddy being home, the boys still wanted mommy and Parker had a hard time with me not being able to put him to bed or pick him up and hold him. It was tough and I'm glad that's over. :)

Today is my first day alone with all three kids. The big ones are successfully at school and Tyler is sleeping (I should be sleeping too).

Tyler was born March 6 at 8:15am, weighing in at 6lbs 7oz and 19 in long. He was just 'baby' for 48 hours while we figured out what we were going to name this sweet baby. He had a very hard time latching on to nurse and I noticed he was tongue tied right away. By midnight, he had lost 5oz so I asked for some formula to start supplementing. 24 hours later, he was down 4 more oz. We had a weight check the following Monday and he was up to 6lbs 3oz; yay for growth! He's a great baby, except that he prefers to sleep more during the day. He had his 2 week well check on Thursday. He was a whopping 7lbs and 20 in long. I mentioned to the pedi that I wanted his tongue checked because he was having a hard time nursing (even though I'm fine with supplementing) and she referred me to an ENT. On Friday....we headed to the ENT. Let me just say that seeing your 2 week old baby with a mouth full of blood is not anything any mother wants to see. I had to hold him down for the procedure. No fun, but it was necessary. It was something that was severe enough that we would have had to do it before he turned 4. If we would have waited, he would have needed general anesthesia instead of just the local that he had. He's completely fine now and is nursing more/better. That's all about Tyler...

My turn. We got to the hospital at 5am and they started prepping for surgery. I won't lie, I wanted to pull the IV out and run like hell out the door...but I didn't. The surgery was super easy and as soon as my OB said that he was perfect, I needed a nap. By 9am, all 3 of us were back in my room and things were fine. my incision was good, the surgery was perfect, Tyler was perfect. As the epidural wore off, I got antsy. I don't like to sit still normally and by 5pm I was begging to get up. Let me say that the first time I got up was awful. I mean, cold sweats, holy hell awful. After that, I was in some pain but each time it was easier and by Thursday morning, I had taken a shower. The pain was somewhat manageable after I started getting up but I wanted more meds and the nurses wouldn't give them to me. Instead they gave me an abdominal binder. That thing is amazing! I didn't feel like gravity hated me anymore and I wore it for almost 2 weeks. I'd still be wearing it but it's too big now. By Friday morning, I was ready to go home. I didn't need much getting up and I could manage my meds on my own and Josh and I really missed the kids. Parker was having a harder time and it was just time for all of us to be home. Once we got home, I slept in the guest room with Tyler to avoid the stairs and climbing in and out of our big bed. I'm still sore but not bad enough for any medications. I think that a big part of my soreness is from having my tubes cut/tied.

I know you're waiting for photos...

Fab Friday

When I saw Shannon mention Fab Friday I thought that I should do 2 posts today. It has been a hard week for me (ear infection, flu, that NST yeserday, Parker getting in trouble at school, now he's sick too) so I decided that I would focus on the good things that happened this week. There's always good and sometimes it's harder to find the good when the 'bad' is easier to see.

Here are some Fabs that happened this week.

Monday after my BPP, my future SIL and I went and had some girl time at the nail salon. My nails look and feel much better and it was FUN.

Wednesday, Conner had his Valentine Party at school. It was so cute.

Yesterday was valentines day, I woke up to flowers and a balloon; Josh was sneaky. My ILs took the boys to the circus so I got a little break before my appt. Josh got home and cooked dinner and had cards for me from the boys and him. It's so great knowing that the man I chose is truly my partner, my real bff; we're a team and a really good one. He has been so great this week with me being sick.

Conner is constantly telling us "I love you". It's awesome. Parker, on the other hand...well...he will say it if you ask him to or if you say it first but the other day he asked me to take him to go potty. After I took him, he wrapped those little arms around my neck and said, 'mommy, i love you'. I died. right there.

It's nice to reflect on the good things that are happening b/c there is always at least one and that's all I really need to be reminded that life truly IS good. We are blessed...beyond measure.

A little non-update...

I haven't really updated about my pregnancy because there's nothing really to update. I haven't had an ultrasound in almost a month but I think I get one next week? I'm supposed to find out if a c-section will be necessary or not next week. I'm really hoping not but if it's the best thing then I'll do it. They will also be checking for growth when I go in this week. Last appt, I had not gained any weight in almost a month and my belly was measuring small so she made a comment that 'we'd have to keep an eye on that'. I've gained my fair share this time and I'm trying not to worry about that. They will be doing the group B strep test and I figure while they are going to violate me, I'm asking for a cervix check. I want to know if all of these nights of contractions are doing anything. If they are not, I will be scrubbing my floors Wed afternoon! If they are I'll just continue to take it easy until 37w, then it's on; I'll scrub and do whatever I want! I haven't been going to the gym b/c of the contractions. I don't feel like it's the smartest thing I could do so I don't go. I miss it. I miss my patience, the stress I release when I work out. Can't wait to get back to it.

Here's my belly at 34 weeks

The kids are good; busy boys but good. Parker is potty trained, it's SO nice. I was impressed with how quickly he was trained. I still make him wear pull ups to bed but he wakes up dry. I'm just not that brave yet.

I still have so much to do. We have no name, baby's room isn't ready and I've only gone through about a third of the baby clothes. I need to finish that and wash them....they have been boxed up for 2 years. I can't do any of it until the closet in the boys' room is done and that won't get done until Josh is home for a full weekend...who knows when that will happen. When the room is done, I'll take a pic...it's just Parker's set up for a new baby. I did buy a new crib sheet..does that count for something? I also needed a swing and ordered one the other day.

For my week for of my 52 weeks, I actually have 2 photos. I wanted to use the one of Conner but it's not completely in focus so I have one of Parker's feet too. Pretty cute.

weekly project

Last year, I tried really hard to do a 365 project and failed miserably. This year I'm giving it another go but doing a 52...that's one photo a week and I'm participating in a photography group to keep me accountable. I present to you week 1-3.

This is Spiky; he's our new pet and we are smitten with him.

Parker LOVES all things pirates.

They played pirates for about an hour; I love that I can see both boys' faces and Josh is still in the photo too.

My Sweet Boy

The other day, Josh was headed to the store to get batteries for one of Conner's race car toys and Conner decided he was going with him. When they got home, they had some goodies for me and my boy was SO proud to give them to me. I gave him a big hug and told him thank you and when I told Josh thank you that boy cocked his head to the side, pointed his finger at me and told me "mommy, it was all my idea, it was not daddy's idea. You don't have to tell Daddy thank you". love him.

Every night...

Every night Conner lays on the couch with his daddy. Every night they snuggle up and every night, they both fall asleep.

The Zoo

On Sunday, Josh was home and it was awesome. We headed out to the zoo to let the boys see the animals and run off some energy. We had a great time and they were pooped when we left!
