Let's Be Real

After Conner was born, I was back into my regular jeans by the time he was 3 weeks old. My baby weight melted off and I was thrilled about it. I remember being stuck at 134 (how I'd love to be 134 right now) and not being happy. I started working out after we were settled into our house (remember we moved when he was 8w old) and the pounds continued to melt off. When I got pregnant for Parker, I was 10 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant for Conner and it was also the lowest I had been in YEARS. I was finally starting to like how I looked again and my self confidence was up. I was running every single day and really enjoying my routine. Fast forward...I was pregnant and started contracting while exercising. I was told no more exercise or I'd wind up on bedrest again and frankly, I was NOT going to be put on bedrest again so I stopped exercising. It's been almost a YEAR since I have worked out. I can feel it. I feel it in my mushiness, my mood and my confidence. I need to start working out again. I really feel better (thank you celexa) and I know I need to start moving. I hate, hate, hate how I look right now. I've started GAINING weight and it is depressing. After Conner was born, it didn't take me too long to find my rhythm and get a routine down. I would work out during naps and I was getting the house clean. How nice! Now that I have two small children, I feel like I can not get any rhythm or a routine. I simply do not have any time at all for myself. My kids don't sleep at the same time at all. For example, Parker got up at 6 this morning. Conner got up at 7:20, Parker took his first nap from 8-9. We went out for a few hours. When we got home, Parker slept while I fixed Conner lunch. I put Conner down for his nap and within five minutes, Parker was awake. Parker was not a happy little guy and wanted nothing more than to be held. I finally got Parker to go back to sleep and as soon as he closed his eyes, I heard Conner say, "mama". There went my workout. The rest of the afternoon was me running interference between my two kids, cleaning up, doing more laundry and getting ready for dinner. That is a typical day. I think I have a solution, too. Josh and I have been talking about the YMCA and we've decided that we are going to get a family membership. I'm thrilled about this. I can't wait to join. I plan on going at least 4 days a week. They even have a mommy and me class on Thursdays that Conner and I can attend. How fun!

  1. I hate that you are feeling down about yourself. While it has been years since I have seen you, I have seen pics and you are beautiful. Embrace the mama bod you have because you have accomplished a lot with that little body! :)
And I can also tell you that joining a gym has been THE BEST thing for me and my kids! I get my workout on or my run in and they get to run off some energy!!
I hope your boys find their sleeping mojo soon! I know how difficult that is to deal with.

  2. I am 2 years out from having M and still haven't managed to lose the weight. I'm running sometimes 5 days a week and doing bootcamp for 3 days a week, i'm not gaining but I haven't lost anything since I started. I just can't seem to make any progress, probably by the time I finally get back to my goal weight we'll be ready for #2. I guess I need to start blogging and get some things off my chest, i'm relating with alot of things you've been writing lately (minus 1 kid). There have been alot of changes and things happening in the last few weeks, i'm at the end of my rope...
I wish there was something I could do to help you or that we lived closer! I can't even begin to imagine feeling the way I feel and having no sleep on top of it plus a baby.

  3. I completely understand how you feel. It's very tough to find a routine that works for everyone. I wish we lived closer to each other so we could get a routine going together.

Hang in there. They won't be so little & so needy for so long. Ya know? We can only fit it in when we can fit it in right now.

  4. I know you can do this! You are going to love the Y (and the classes they offer) and I'm sure C & P will have a blast there as well. Just know that people are rooting for you and know you'll succeed ;)

  5. I literally JUST had this conversation with J this morning. Having a C section leaves you with so much belly jiggle I want to puke! I WISH I fit into my pre preg jeans like J's cousin who's baby is only 4 weeks old! BITCH!

  6. It's got to be something with c-sections Shannon bc there are a few in my bootcamp who can't seem to recover their tummies either. I really thought i'd be back in my old clothes a LONG time ago!
